Sacrifice & Unity Consciousness

The ancient Mayans were uncivilized and performed human sacrifices and were involved in wars and other horrible things. At the same time the Mayans had advanced knowledge in cosmology that they acquired or were given. In our more civilized world, does sacrifice still have any function? Yes, in the sense that change requires old structures to let go of. It may even be that in order to reach Unity Consciousness, we must so to speak 'sacrifice' our separation consciousness. Meaning, that we need to let go of our ordinary way of thinking in order to allow a new state of consciousness, Unity Consciousness, to flow into us.

Belief Structures, letting go...

Is there really such a thing as uncivilized? This conclusion about the Mayans is based on differing belief systems. Indeed, letting go of old belief structures is difficult, however one must also realize that these belief structures are contained in oneself. One does not have to 'let go', however. We must work on being accepting of the self, and through this, we affect the whole Self. I found some old discussion that was transcribed which talks about the trauma attached to changing of belief systems. I have realized that to fully accept oneself, One must expand or 'widen' perspective to incorporate all belief systems. This link perhaps explains it better than I can at the moment: http://www.eliasforum.org/digests/trauma.html

I'm a slow reader, plus i have a full-time mom-job for a 5 y.o. that just started kindergarten. Anyway, reading the Elias forum material (i believe it's the same Light Beings here, and i think it's no coincidence that this occured before Shelley Yates was contacted, it had to happen), I got to the part about earthquakes:
[Earthquakes] "are, as we have expressed previously, natural occurrences of your expressions collectively. These are unexpressed emotional elements which seek expression physically within your physical element, for this is how you express within this dimension; physically. Therefore, you express all things physically. This extends collectively to your creations of natural occurrences.
We express to you that you are not separate from nature. This is an example to you of your non-separation from what you view to be nature or natural occurrences, just as your floods and tornadoes and hurricanes are also expressions of yourselves, en masse, collectively being expressed for your benefit.
RON: What about fires?
ELIAS: These also.
RON: But are they really expressions of nature if they were caused by man?
ELIAS: Which is nature! (Laughter) There is no separation!"
This makes a lot of sense to me. But somebody said, when I read this to them, "What about the earthquakes that happened before people appeared on Earth, and what about the earthquakes that happen all the time on other planets?" That person has a valid point. Personally, i think emotions might come from other civilizations not only from ours, and may still linger in time... Maybe... I don't know, what do you think?

Good stuff, thanks for the link phasik. I'm still chewing and digesting it though, it's "heavy metal" material... Also, thanks Anders for posting the thread.

The term 'less developed' is

The term 'less developed' is perhaps better than the word uncivilized. And in some respect, the Mayans were probably closer to Unity Consciousness than we are today. And instead of the word sacrifice, we could say that our individual personalities need to be integrated into a larger perspective in order to reach Unity Consciousness. What has to be sacrificed is our illusion of being completely separate from the rest of reality. So it's a kind of sacrifice that is about letting go of a misconception.
