A competitive and scarcity consciousness, rather than a cooperative consciousness, fosters inter- and intra-community strife, increasingly disproportionate have/have-not disparities, and a growing spiritual malaise. The faulty assumption that individual’s or a group’s intention has no direct impact on a larger collective consciousness nor on our physical environment – despite repeatable empirical evidence to the contrary (below) – has contributed to fragmented, competitive and often destructive behaviors. This fragmented collective consciousness is exacerbating global crises, from inner city violence and geopolitical wars to the rapid destruction of the biosphere and large scale depletion of Earth’s resources.

Human suffering will likely persist unless there is a fundamental change in individual and collective consciousness. This change can be catalyzed by a science that addresses both objective and subjective aspects of reality. The rigorous investigation and potential application of consciousness-related phenomena, as described below, may be key to solving the recalcitrant problems of humankind.
